• http://www.ecawar.org/  - Edmonton Coalition Against War and Racism - local Edmonton group formed to organise opposition to the US led invasion of Iraq. They also are involved in security certificates, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict/resolution, and mobilizes quite quickly in opposition to any conflict outbreak. Kudos to Doug Meggison, Marilyn Gaa, and Peggy Morton for keeping this group alive.

• Vegetarians of Alberta - promoting palnt based diet in a society that is raised in a meat culture is very brave and daunting. They also promote veganism and raw foods.
• http://www.organicconsumers.org/ - Organic Consumers Association. Thansk to this watchdog organisation people (mainly people from the USA) can keep track of the issues surrounding the world of organic standards, GMO (genetically modified organisms), and food security.
• http://www.biofreedom.ca/ - Biofreedom is a local group (though at times this can be a stretch of the term since there are very few, though dedicated, people involved in this group) that works on GMO (genetically modified organisms) and genetic engineering/biotechnology.
