Buying Spices and Herbs in Bulk and SAVE!

The other day a person bought a spice and was interested in finding out how much money she might save if she purchased the product in bulk rather than in the containers. I did a quick calculation.

We sell bulk organic garlic for $29.00 per kilogram, a 103gm glass bottles of garlic for $6.25, and a 26gm mini containers of garlic for $2.95. The bulk is obviously $29.00/kg, the glass bottle works out to $60.67/kg, and the mini container works out to $113.46/kg. This is serious saving when you buy the herbs and spices in bulk.

I like the mini containers but I don’t like paying that amount of money for them so I refill them when they are empty.

Remember – if you are going to bring in your own containers (glass jars, etc – we don’t need to weigh plastic or paper bags) to refill ensure that you have one of the staff weigh it before you fill it up since you only want to pay for the product you are buying and not pay us for the weight of your container.

Refilling products not only save you money but think about all the waste you will start to divert from the landfill or recycling program – Reuse before recycle!

Simply Organics (a division of Frontier Coop) is the organic spice line that we bring in. They have the very convenient mini spice containers (plastic) and the very nice larger glass containers. We try and offer all the spices and herbs in bulk as well (though some items they don’t offer in bulk?).

We also offer many herbs from Chickadee Farm Herbs (packaged and bulk). Their farm is located in Flatbush, AB which is only 155km away.

Refill don’t Landfill!
